Scenes from a birthday party

Waiting for cake... Waiting patiently for cake…

And waiting... And waiting…

And waiting... And waiting…

Waiting for presents... Waiting patiently for presents…

Present time! Present time!

Present time! Fun presents!

CareBear's very own watch! Good presents!

Pillow pet! Love for presents!

Little, human shredders. The little, human shredders.

LiliBee hangs with Grams. LiliBee watches.

Birthday aftermath. Party aftermath.

Happy Birthday to my big girl!

Goggle girl.

A girl and her (stuffed) dog.

Spots. This is Spots. He’s CareBear’s favorite dog. They do just about everything together some days.

CareBear's snack. They snuggle.

A girl and her dog. They share a snack.

Flying Spots! Sometimes Spots flies.

CareBear and Spots. It’s good to have friends.

Next Top Model, preschool edition

CareBear’s been into “posing” for pictures lately… she even stands up on the ottoman for better showmanship.

CareBear models. CareBear models. CareBear models. CareBear models. CareBear models.

Think she has a shot?

CareBear’s first day of school!

CareBear's first day of school. CareBear had started school. It’s a little weird for me to have her off on her own on a regular basis, but I suppose it’s a good thing since she loves it. Right?

First day of pre-school. She’s an independent kid. She has no problem with me leaving her there and hardly needs me to walk her in! She’s figured out the routine already and looks forward to all of the different parts of class. They start with songs and then have activity time (so far, painting and play dough are her favorites). Then there’s outside time, story time and snack time. After cleaning up, they have the always popular music time and then it’s time to go home. The two hours is pretty full and goes fast, I think.

CareBear and LiliBee pose. She’s on her way. She’s growing up.

Big foot. At least I have the little one to keep me company!

Siblings

Shhh... I'm trying to rest. Having more than one kid can be interesting. For instance, the big one might be enjoying a leisurely evening in a lounge chair.

LiliBee joins in. When the little one decides to join them.

All is well. And all is calm.

Headbutt! Until the head-butting and/or hair-pulling begins.

“Helping”

CareBear loves to help Chris. Since we’re starting some new projects, she had a great time helping him measure the rooms.

CareBear takes measuring very seriously. It’s very serious business.

Helping Papa! She loves it when she gets it right.

LiliBee LiliBee “helps” in her own way.

I can’t wait to see her learn to put in flooring!

Benches

On our recent visit to NorthWest Trek, we learned something new… benches are almost more fun than looking at the animals. The kids didn’t miss an opportunity to climb up onto a bench (and they had lots of opportunities, I’ve never noticed how many benches are scattered around the park). LiliBee and CareBear had different bench “styles” though…

CareBear and Pas on a bench. CareBear and Pas were more of the “waiting for the bus” type of bench sitters.

CareBear and Pas on a bench. Or maybe “hanging in the park”.

CareBear and Pas on a bench. I have no idea what the topic of conversation was, but it was pretty entertaining to watch from afar!

*********

LiliBee and Grams on a bench. LiliBee and Grams, on the other hand, seemed to have more of a “sporting event” method, with lots of looking back and forth.

LiliBee and Grams on a bench. Maybe it was tennis?

LiliBee and Grams on a bench. Or basketball?

LiliBee and Grams on a bench. But they certainly were much more animated than CareBear and Pas!

Super-CareBear

CareBear loves rocks. She collects them from everywhere we go. She’s also fascinated by the boulders that she comes across. Mostly, she wants to climb on them, but not this time…

CareBear wants to know if she can lift the rock. “Mama, do you think I can pick up this rock?” (My answer: “You can try!” Is that bad?)

So she tries to lift the rock. “Uuuuuunnnnnnnnggggghhhhh!”

But she cannot lift the rock. “Mama, I guess I can’t do it.”

Off to other things. And off we went to climb on the “jungle gym” ride again.

Put me in, coach!

We got the kids a t-ball set the other day.  LiliBee is good at putting the ball on the tee, but hasn’t quite decided to swing the bat yet. CareBear, on the other hand, has decided to become a “good sports” when she grows up…

CareBear sets the ball. CareBear eyes the ball. CareBear, mid-swing. CareBear hits the ball. Power hitter.

(You’ll have to ignore the ubiquitous nudity, my kids just won’t keep their clothes on!)
